During SBSTA 28, June 2008, Bonn, the RINGO constituency will two meetings in the venue “Tram” in the Ministry of Transport. The meetings will take place on:

 

Monday, 9 June, 10:00 – 11:00 am

Wednesday, 11 June, 10:00 – 11:00 am

 

Note that the meeting on Saturday, 7 June, 10:00 – 11:00 am has been cancelled

 

The NGOs meeting with Yvo de Boer will take place on 9 June, 3:30 – 5:00 pm in the venue “Tram” in the Ministry of Transport.

 

About RINGOs

 

RINGOs are organizations engaged in independent research and analysis aimed at developing sound strategies to address both the causes and consequences of global climate change. They form a constituency in their own right to contribute to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), in a parallel way to ENGOs (Environment), BINGOs (Business and Industry), LGMAs (Local governments and municipal authorities) and the IPOs (Indigenous peoples organizations). During the COP and SB meetings of the UNFCCC the RINGOs organize meetings to discuss the developments of the negotiations. RINGOs have also been represented at  workshops organized by the UNFCCC Secretariat. RINGO activities are co-ordinated by a steering committee. If you are interested in participating in the RINGO constituency you can contact the RINGO Focal Point, hosted at the Centre for European Policy Studies in Belgium.

 

Distinguishing criteria of the RINGO constituency are:

·         All organisations are not-for-profit.

·         Committed to addressing climate change in a constructive manner.

·         Actively involved in seeking ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and climate impacts.

·         RINGOs are independent to the extent that it is not expected that all organisations would ascribe to the same view on any one particular issue. The contribution would lie in providing a range of views that may or may not be complementary.

·         Agree to regularly participate in side meetings of the RINGO constituency during CoP and SB meetings.

·         Work to play a bridging role: between science and policy; business and environmental organisations; North and South; etc.
